In October 2021, the American Law Institute and the European Law Institute’s launched new Principles for a Data Economy: Data Transactions and Data Rights. Guarini Global Law and Tech partnered with Francesca Episcopo and Sergio Alonso de Leon (2021-2022 Émile Noël Fellows) to host an informal workshop to discuss the principles with members of the NYU community and broader global data law community in New York.
The workshop provided a forum for an open exchange of views on the principles, facilitated by initial reflections from the various legal perspectives implicated by the ALI/ELI data principles, including data protection and privacy law, intellectual property law, antitrust and competition law, and other domains of data law, including in transnational and comparative perspectives.
